About the Role
Klohn Crippen Berger’s (KCB) Brisbane office is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer based in Gladstone, with a strong background in civil and geotechnical engineering and construction management. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in fieldwork, enjoy supporting design engineers during construction and operation, and excel at leading project teams while building strong client relationships.
The Resident Engineer is responsible for on-site engineering oversight, quality assurance, and construction coordination. This role ensures compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations while serving as the primary engineering liaison between contractors, clients, and the design team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Prepare, review, and revise construction documents including specifications and contract drawings.
- Provide expert advice on construction methodology, sequencing, site management, and constructability.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams—project managers, technical consultants, contractors, and delivery teams—to resolve technical challenges.
- Conduct quality assurance testing, manage contract administration, and issue field change orders.
- Lead weekly construction meetings and maintain clear communication with clients and stakeholders.
- Prepare inspection logs, progress reports, and post-construction documentation.
- Support dam safety reviews, consequence classification assessments, and risk analyses.
Qualifications, Skills & Desired Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Geotechnical disciplines.
- RPEQ / CPEng Chartered Status (Or Eligible to apply within 12 months of joining.)
- 7+ years of construction management experience, ideally with dams or tailings infrastructure.
- First-hand experience in construction of tailings and civil infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with dam safety guidelines (e.g., CDA, GISTM) and ISO-compliant QMS systems.
- Working knowledge of engineering design standards, codes, and best practice guidelines.
- Proficiency in hydraulic and geotechnical software (e.g., HEC-RAS, Flow 3D).
- Experience writing proposals, technical reports, and leading client communications.
- Enthusiasm for learning and continuous technical development.
- Exceptional team spirit and interpersonal skills.
