About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join our Ecuador Team and contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across Latin America and internationally.

This position is intended for a highly respected professional with 15+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, mine waste management, and mining infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will provide senior technical leadership, guide multidisciplinary teams, oversee project delivery, provide guidance and fosters talent development, and support strategic growth initiatives in Ecuador and the region.

The Senior Geotechnical Civil Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers of Record (EORs), technical specialists, and clients to deliver safe, innovative, and technically sound solutions throughout the project lifecycle, from studies and design through construction, operations, and closure.

This Role Will Give You the Opportunity To

• Lead the design and review of tailings facilities, dams, heap leach facilities, waste rock facilities, and other mining infrastructure projects.

• Provide senior technical oversight, dam safety support, and geotechnical risk management expertise.

• Manage multidisciplinary teams, project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.

• Mentor and develop professionals while supporting team growth.

• Represent KCB in client engagements, technical forums, and industry events.

• Contribute to business development, technical innovation, and industry-leading practices.

We Are Looking for Someone Who Has

• Degree in Civil Engineering.

• Professional Engineering registration and academic credentials recognized by SENESCYT or eligibility to obtain recognition in Ecuador.

• 15+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering and mining infrastructure projects.

• Master’s degree or postgraduate specialization in Geotechnical Engineering, Geomechanics, Mining Engineering, or a related field preferred.

• Demonstrated experience in the design, review, and construction support of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs), Heap Leach Facilities, dams, waste rock facilities, and related mining infrastructure.

• Strong knowledge of geotechnical analyses, dam safety, mine waste management, and geotechnical risk assessment.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.

• Advanced English, both written and verbal; Portuguese is an asset.

• Strong leadership, mentoring, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
