The Opportunity:
Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with extensive expertise in marine structure design to join our Power & Transportation team in Vancouver. This role will support the development of our ports and marine engineering practice while contributing design expertise of marine structures. Reporting to the Manager, Ports & Harbours, this position offers the opportunity to lead complex technical work, mentor developing engineers, and contribute to significant infrastructure projects across Canada and internationally.
What You’ll Do
As a senior member of the team, you will:
Lead structural and civil engineering design for ports, harbours, and major infrastructure projects (jetties, breakwaters, pontoons, wharves, seawalls, etc.)
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, designers, and drafters
Mentor junior engineers and support the development of team technical expertise
Prepare technical reports, proposals, and project documentation
Participate in site visits to inform design decisions and ensure quality throughout project execution
Build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts
Travel periodically within Canada and internationally, as required.
What We’re Looking For
You bring the following qualifications and experience:
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Canada or eligibility for registration in British Columbia. P.E. registration in the United States is considered an asset.
18+ years of progressive engineering experience, including delivery of port, marine, or other heavy civil infrastructure projects
Demonstrated technical expertise in:
Reinforced concrete and structural steel design
Foundations (including piled foundations), marine structures, and earthworks
Seismic and marine-specific design
Strong ability to coordinate across disciplines and project teams
Proven leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong technical report writing capability
Working knowledge of construction scheduling for large infrastructure projects
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
The salary for this position is $140,000 to $190,000 per year. Salary is based on applicable experience, education, and skill level.
