We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Global Tax Manager to join our Tax team in Vancouver as we continue to expand our global footprint. Reporting to the Director, Global Tax, you will leverage your solid Canadian tax experience and strong analytical and problem-solving skills to deepen your knowledge in international tax matters. You will have a direct report in the Tax team to coach and mentor as well as managing the collaboration with internal teams and/or external advisors across the US, Australia, Latin America (Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Chile) and Europe (UK, Ireland, Sweden). As a key member of the Tax Department, you are responsible for Canadian and international tax reporting and compliance for KCB. Your contributions will help minimize tax risk and costs while providing Senior Management with valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Research & Risk Management
- Conduct domestic and international tax research, including interpretation of tax legislation and treaties.
- Monitor permanent establishment (PE) risks, sales/use tax and withholding tax compliance.
- Stay current on domestic and international tax developments and ensure timely implementation of changes.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Lead Canadian and foreign corporate tax filings, including supporting working papers, foreign related party disclosures, and foreign branch statements.
- Manage annual consolidated tax provisions and tax note disclosures for audited financial statements.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to ensure timely filing of foreign corporate, branch, sales and withholding tax returns.
- Approve indirect tax filings (VAT, GST/HST, PST) and manage accurate reporting and timely filing by foreign entities.
- Assist external advisors with SR&ED claims and transfer pricing documentation and analysis
- Manage tax calculations including safe income, FAPI, GRIP, quarterly tax provisions, deferred/future taxes and effective tax rate review.
Financial Analysis & Forecasting
- Manage tax accruals, cash tax forecasting, dividend categorization, and tax account reconciliations.
Special Projects
- Support tax planning initiatives and contribute to continuous process improvements within the tax function, including exploring and implementing emerging technology tools to automate and/or to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Respond to inquiries and audits from tax authorities.
- Assist with contract reviews and the establishment of new entities in foreign jurisdictions.
- Provide ad-hoc tax analysis and support on special projects as required
What we require:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA designation: CPA In-Depth Tax Program (Levels I & II) is an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of related tax experience, ideally a mix of public practice and industry.
- Strong foundation in Canadian corporate tax; experience in international tax preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Familiarity with Power BI is an asset.
- Working knowledge of generative AI and automation technologies to enhance tax research, streamline processes and manage compliance and risk.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables supported by accurate documentation.
- Strong analytical skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The anticipated salary range is $115,000 to $130,000 per year. Actual salary offered is based on applicable experience, education, and skill level.
