Senior Geotechnical Engineer

We’re growing our Brisbane Geotechnical Engineering team and are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to help deliver technically challenging projects across tailings and waste storage facilities, water management structures, dams, and mine infrastructure.

What you'll do
In this role, you will:
Plan, coordinate and interpret geotechnical field investigation programs, including desktop reviews, mapping, drilling, test pitting, sampling and testing
Undertake analysis and design for tailings and waste storage facilities, dams, water management structures and related mine infrastructure
Use engineering software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, MUK3D, AutoCAD, and in-house analytical tools
Prepare high-quality engineering reports, drawings, specifications, presentations, and bills of quantities
Support construction monitoring and bulk earthworks supervision, including quality assurance and practical design advice on site
Contribute to project delivery and client management activities as required
What You’ll Bring
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering
Around 8–10 years’ relevant geotechnical engineering experience
CPEng / RPEQ certification, or eligibility to obtain registration within 12 months of joining
Demonstrated experience in:
slope stability and seepage analysis
dam design
earthworks and construction
site investigation
laboratory testing of soils and rock
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and guidelines, including ANCOLD, ICOLD, GISTM and CDA
Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical reporting skills
Experience working in a safety-focused environment, including near miss and incident reporting requirements
In addition to the must-have requirements above, you will excel in the role if you have the following:
Experience in tailings management and dam safety.
Experience in seismic analysis of dams.
Strong working knowledge of relevant software packages
The ability to develop practical, creative engineering solutions
Confidence building rapport with clients, colleagues and industry partners

If you are registered, or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer, have a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering and a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in the mining or related industries, we want to hear from you!
